Images of Old Japan

  Old Japan

Today, Japan conjures up images of modern skyscrapers, neon lights, high tech industries and masses of people. It is hard to imagine that the country was once ruled by warlords and closed to outsiders for centuries.

This presentation gives an insight into the ‘old’ Japan – a Japan rich in customs, arts, architecture and festivals unique to the islands – and the way in which the Buddhist and Shinto religions have left their mark on the country’s traditions and culture.
